Kamil
Stroński, PhD
Management Scholar
I hold a PhD in Management (summa cum laude) from ESMT Berlin and the Berlin School of Economics, as well as degrees in Economics from SGH Warsaw School of Economics and UCLouvain. I have worked as a postdoctoral researcher at INSEAD and the Technical University of Munich. I also have professional experience in the banking sector, including at the European Investment Bank.
I study how major societal shifts—population aging, urbanization, and social inequality—shape organizations, leaders, and employees.
Research in brief
Corporate governance
I examine how CEOs’ personal and social environments shape firm decisions. My work shows how retirement, place of residence, and migrant background can influence employee wages, product innovation, and hiring.
Inequalities within organizations
I study how gender and minority status affect careers and workplace opportunities. My research examines differences in the career consequences of team failure, as well as the role of migrant CEOs in the hiring of migrant employees.
Methods and data
My research combines large-scale administrative and archival data with field studies, event-history analysis, and meta-analysis. These methods allow me to examine organizational decisions and career outcomes across firms, employees, executive teams, and industries.
Selected presentations
I have presented my research at various academic conferences, including the ESSEC–HEC–INSEAD Management Research Workshop, the Academy of Management Annual Meeting, and Wharton’s People and Organizations Conference.
